As a plus user, you will get one of Obsidian’s best role-playing games of all time for free this month.
Do you still remember the time when microtransactions were not yet known and really good role-playing games were anything but rare? Do you fancy a little time travel? Then look with us at the jewel from the early 21st century, one of the best sequels ever and to this day a regular guest in top lists of all kinds. We are of course talking about Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II.
Jedi, Sith, and Rascals: An Epic Tale
We don’t want to say too much about the grandiose story at this point, because there should still be some RPG fans who have not played the game yet. Suffice it to say: You are being hunted by many factions and are on the difficult search for lost Jedi Masters. As in the predecessor, you can expect an exciting story, difficult decisions, and lots of interesting characters.
KotOR II had big footsteps to fill, after all, the first part (which we had as a plus full version this May) was considered an absolute masterpiece. It was a difficult task, but what did the developers do? Not much different! That was a reason for criticism on many lips because the changes to the predecessor were relatively thin. On the other hand, the motto still applies: Never change a running system. That is why KotOR II does everything right that has already worked well before. A sequel is usually expected to be a little more innovative, but if the end result is good, it can be overlooked.
The combat system is also just fun. Your available Jedi skills will change depending on whether your actions are on the light or dark side of the Force. Unlike in the predecessor, you have access to your supernatural powers much earlier, which makes the fights more interesting from the start.
